Biography

Nanna Erika (b. 1996) is a Danish visual artist whose practice explores the significance, materiality, and social presence of the body. She works across performance, sculpture, video, and photography, examining how individuals experience, understand, and navigate their bodies and positions within society.

Her practice revolves around vulnerability, intimacy, taboo, boundaries, and gender. Through the body as both material and artistic voice, she investigates how normative structures shape our perception of the body, and how it is sexualized, pathologized, categorized, and subjected to cultural and political expectations.

Nanna Erika often works with bodily materials and parts of the body, such as hair, skin, and nails. Through these materials, she explores the complexity of the body and the relationship between the intimate and vulnerable and that which is regulated and shaped by social norms.

Through simple and at times humorous gestures, as well as an interest in the absurd, she explores complex and emotionally nuanced subjects, making them concrete, immediate, and accessible.

In 2025, she completed her Master of Fine Art at the Bergen Art Academy.
